Signal vs Operator: how I actually coach you back into your body
Every coach throws around words like "personalized" and "elite." I want to do something different in this post: I want to show you exactly how my two flagship builds, Signal and Operator, are sequenced, what gets prioritized in what week, and how you'll know each one is working.
The shared foundation
Both programs start in the same place: with an honest audit of your week, your sleep, your medical reality, and your movement. Not a fitness assessment — an operating reality assessment. We will look at when you wake, when you commute, when you can train, when you can cook, and what your body is currently capable of without us pretending. If you are like the average client I work with, your day looks something like this: up at six, commute by seven thirty, work eight to four thirty, home by five, dinner and family between five and seven, training between seven and quarter to eight, wind-down to nine thirty. We design around that, not against it.
Signal — twelve weeks, online
Signal is a twelve-week online build. It is for people who have a baseline level of consistency and want a clear, written program plus weekly accountability. Here is how the twelve weeks land:
- Weeks 1–2 — Calibration. We dial in movement, breath, and the four lifts we will return to for the next ninety days. You will lift lighter than you expect. We earn the right to load.
- Weeks 3–6 — Build. Volume increases. Conditioning gets specific to your goal. We log everything. I send you a Loom every Sunday with the next week's intent.
- Weeks 7–9 — Pressure. This is where most clients surprise themselves. We push the lifts. We sharpen the conditioning. We protect sleep and food because the work is real now.
- Weeks 10–12 — Proof. We retest. You see the numbers. You feel the difference in your clothes, your stairs, your camping trip, your kids. Success is your proof — and at this point you have it in writing.
Operator — six months, elite
Operator is the deeper build. It is six months and it is for people who want a coach close to their training, week to week, with biweekly calls and same-day messaging. Operator clients typically come to me with one of three situations: a chronic condition they are tired of being told they cannot train around, a sport or hobby they want to come back to fully (hiking, skiing, swordsmithing — yes, really), or a major life transition they want to enter at their physical best.
Operator is structured in three eight-week phases. Each phase has a written intent, a measurable outcome, and a planned deload week. We retest at the end of each phase and openly re-plan the next one. Nothing is on autopilot. If your body or your life changes, the build changes with it. That is the whole point.
How I sequence work in a single week
For both builds, a typical training week assumes three to four strength sessions and two conditioning blocks. Sessions are forty-five to seventy-five minutes. We do not train to failure on a daily basis — we train to quality. Failure is for testing days, not for Tuesdays.
Most of my clients are not training to be athletes. They are training to be the person their life needs them to be. That changes the math. We are not optimizing for a podium. We are optimizing for a Tuesday in February when you are tired, your back is tight, your kid is sick, and you still want to show up for forty-five minutes and feel better at the end than you did at the start.
How you'll know it's working
Three signals: your lifts move up in writing, your resting habits get easier (you sleep deeper, you eat more honestly, you stop dreading the gym), and the people around you start to comment without you fishing for it. That third one is the one that surprises clients. Their spouse says something. Their coworker asks. That is when it is real.
If you are ready to talk about which build fits your life, call or email me. We will take fifteen minutes, walk through your week, and figure out the right entry point. If you want to read the philosophy behind why I coach this way at all, start here.
And if you want to see the kind of result this work has produced, the results page is the proof.
Reading is easy. The work is yours.
If this hit, the next move is a 15-minute call.
